TI-84 documentation

Mobile App Mode

Follow the steps while keeping the calculator open in another tab.

The site includes a mobile app-like mode so the calculator can feel more focused on phones and tablets. This guide explains App Mode, installation, fullscreen behavior and offline limitations.

Quick tip: Keep the calculator page open in another tab while reading this guide. Try each step immediately so the button sequence becomes familiar.

Launch App Mode

Open the dedicated TI-84 calculator application. It removes the universal site menu and keeps the calculator interface focused.

App Mode is useful on phones because it reduces scrolling and makes the calculator feel closer to a standalone app.

Install on Android

In Chrome or a supported browser, open the site and look for an Install option. You may also find Add to Home screen in the browser menu.

Installed PWAs can open without normal browser tabs, depending on browser support.

Add to iPhone Home Screen

On iPhone, use Safari’s Share menu and choose Add to Home Screen when available.

iOS support differs from Android. If automatic install prompts do not appear, the manual Share menu method is usually the best path.

Use Full Screen

The Full Screen button requests browser fullscreen mode. Some mobile browsers require user interaction and may not allow every type of fullscreen behavior.

If fullscreen exits when you switch apps, simply reopen App Mode or press Full Screen again.

Offline expectations

The site shell, docs and local pages can be cached by the service worker. The interactive calculator still relies on externally delivered runtime resources, so keep internet available for reliable calculator use.

Do not promise students a fully offline calculator unless you have a legally permitted self-hosted runtime.
